Temporary Signage Regulations

As part of the City of Lloydminster's Governance Review Policy, the Planning department is currently reviewing the Land Use Bylaw (LUB), Bylaw 5-2016, in regards to a number of topics and service areas. This bylaw acts as a regulating document for all land and building developments and uses within municipal boundaries and helps to establish a fair, orderly and economic development of the land.

In addition, the current bylaw brings regulations a number of temporary sign types (listed below). With the large coverage of this topic areas, the City of Lloydminster is considering that temporary or non-affixed signage be regulated through its own bylaw.

What are temporary signs?

Temporary signs can be found in a number of sizes and shapes and may include the following:

  • Portable signs,
  • real estate signs,
  • board signs,
  • balloon signs,
  • government signs,
  • banner signs,
  • development or construction marketing signs,
  • bench signs, or
  • any other non-affixed or permanently attached signage.

Stakeholder Engagement

On February 20 the City of Lloydminster hosted two stakeholder workshops where over 30 individuals shared their thoughts on the future changes to the temporary sign regulations. View the official What We Heard Report to learn more about the key findings from this phase.
