Temporary Signage Regulations


As part of the City of Lloydminster's Governance Review Policy, the Planning department is currently reviewing the Land Use Bylaw (LUB), Bylaw 5-2016, in regards to a number of topics and service areas. This bylaw acts as a regulating document for all land and building developments and uses within municipal boundaries and helps to establish a fair, orderly and economic development of the land.

In addition, the current bylaw brings regulations a number of temporary sign types (listed below). With the large coverage of this topic areas, the City of Lloydminster is now suggesting that temporary or non-affixed signage be regulated through their own bylaw.

What are temporary signs?

Temporary signs come in a number of sizes and shapes and may include the following:

  • Portable signs,
  • real estate signs,
  • board signs,
  • balloon signs,
  • government signs,
  • banner signs,
  • development or construction marketing signs,
  • bench signs, or
  • any other non-affixed or permanently attached signage.

Stakeholder Engagement Opportunity

Stakeholders and users of temporary signs are invited to the City of Lloydminster’s Operations Centre to discuss the future changes to the temporary sign regulation. During this event, attendees will be given the opportunity to discuss the strengths and weaknesses within the current regulations, share their thoughts on future amendments and gain a better understanding of the City's desire for change.

RSVP to one-of-two stakeholder meetings by completing the online form, or by contacting 780-875-6184 Ext. 2322. RSVP's are not required, but are encouraged.
