Welcome! Thank you for taking time to learn more about this important community project.

The City of Lloydminster is committed to providing residents with high-quality recreational opportunities that promote health, well-being and community engagement. As part of that commitment, the City is developing a plan that will guide the future development or enhancement of the Archie Miller Arena facility and programs.

TBD Architecture & Urban Planning has been engaged to assist with the development of this plan. They have started to gather research, and will be connecting with Lloydminster residents and stakeholders as part of the engagement process.

A key piece of our engagement strategy is collection of public input through a short survey intended to help us learn more about people's regular use of the Archie Miller Arena, as well as their hopes and expectations for the building's future.

With the help of the City of Lloydminster Administration, Council, Stakeholders and community, the consultant team will present a Final Report in March 2025 with recommendations on the future strategy for the Archie Miller Arena.

About the Archie Miller Arena

Featuring a nostalgic old-time atmosphere, along with recently renovated and expanded dressing rooms, the Archie Miller Arena is a beloved landmark for Lloydminster-area hockey players and hockey parents alike.‘

"The Archie", as it is locally known, is located at 4715 57 Avenue in Lloydminster. The arena was constructed in 1966 and features a full NHL-sized artificial ice surface, a modest lobby, and four player dressing rooms. It has a sand floor under the ice surface, where more modern arenas have a concrete slab. While the lobby and dressing rooms are heated, the play and spectators area is not, making it only usable during cold winter months.

A recent building assessment has provided the City assurance that the building itself, while old and dated, does not have immediate structural issues.
