Each year, the City of Lloydminster develops a budget that accounts for anticipated expenses and revenues and allocates funds to meet the municipality's needs. Oftentimes, governing a community can be a lot like running a business.

  • We must carefully balance our finances, ensuring good value in the way we spend, invest, and create revenue.
  • We must constantly take stock of how we are operating, assessing where improvements are needed, what practices are working, and which are not.
  • We must continuously look ahead, estimating our future needs and making financial plans to meet them.

Creating financial plans and strategies that drive a sustainable, prosperous, healthy community is a complex undertaking that requires both ratepayers and government to look at the future from many angles.

Each year, our budgeting process is guided by City Council’s Strategic Plan, which contains Council’s mission, vision, values and key strategic priorities for the community’s future.

You shared. We listened!

Last year, our survey asked several questions about our trails and sidewalks network, the results of which helped steer priorities and projects through 2023. The input you shared through the 2022 Budget Engagement survey also helped City Council make critical decisions about services, infrastructure, equipment, staffing, and much more.

You can view the results of last year’s survey on the 2023 Municipal Budget project page.

You can review the 2022 approved budget and other historical budgets at lloydminster.ca/Budget.
