Your City, Your Business

As part of Councils 2017-2021 Strategic Plan, one of the eight high strategic priorities included public engagement, ensuring residents have access to information about City government activity. In 2018 an Economic Development Strategic Plan was developed through considerations of Council's five strategic pillars Community Sustainability, Governance Culture, Social, Environment and most notably, Economy.

The Economy pillar as stated in Council's Strategic Plan means achieving economic vitality, and growth and development that simultaneously improves quality of life and environment. It includes employment, income levels and health, quality and diversity of employers, business and non-profit organizations.

As the City of Lloydminster's Economic Development department's mission, a number of public engagement opportunities are hosted each year to support the flow of information between our local businesses/non-profit organizations and the City.

Mission: Actively deliver timely and effective information and services to attract, secure and retain business investment.

Business Survey

The City of Lloydminster’s Economic Development team is hosting their annual Business Survey. This survey will help identify the needs of current and future businesses, as well as provide guidance and direction for future economic growth.

Feedback collected through this survey is confidential as the results will provide input to City Council and Administration as they create policy to support local businesses, grow a diverse local economy, stabilize our tax base, and create a strong and vibrant business community. The City has contracted
Insightrix Research Inc. to contact local business owners at random to complete a short telephone survey. The survey will also be available online after the telephone survey is complete.

The primary objectives of the survey include the understanding of:

  • the opportunities and challenges for Lloydminster businesses
  • availability of business assistance
  • strengths and Weaknesses of Lloydminster as a place to conduct business
  • perceptions of local barriers for retention, expansion and attraction of business
    within the community
  • probability of business expansion, relocation, closure or sale

If you are interested in completing the survey, please contact the Economic Development Officer or Community Engagement Coordinator.

At any time, if you have a question regarding Lloydminster's economy, or business site selection please view the Economic Development webpage or contact the Economic Development Department.
