Your City, Your Business

As part of Council's 2017-2021 Strategic Plan, one of the eight high strategic priorities included public engagement, ensuring residents have access to information about City government activity. In 2018 an Economic Development Strategic Plan was developed through considerations of Council's five strategic pillars: Community Sustainability, Governance Culture, Social, Environment and notably, Economy.

The Economy pillar as stated in Council's Strategic Plan means achieving economic vitality, growth and development that simultaneously improves the quality of life and environment. It includes employment, income levels and health, quality and diversity of employers, business and non-profit organizations.

As the City of Lloydminster's Economic Development department's mission, a number of public engagement opportunities are hosted each year to support the flow of information between our local businesses/non-profit organizations and the City.

Mission: Actively deliver timely and effective information and services to attract, secure and retain business investment.

2023 Economic Development Business Survey

The City of Lloydminster’s Economic Development team hosted their annual business survey in November 2023. This survey helped identify the needs of current and future businesses, as well as provided guidance and direction for future economic growth.

Previous Business Surveys

The What We Heard Report for the 2020, 2021, 2022 and 2023 surveys are available to view in the document library on this page. Data collected through these surveys were confidential and the results assisted City Council and Administration as they created policies to support local businesses, grew a diverse local economy, stabilized our tax base and created a strong and vibrant business community.

At any time, if you have a question regarding Lloydminster's economy, or business site selection please view the Economic Development webpage or contact the Economic Development Department.

Are we going to have a public transit in town? Since, the economy is growing and the population are also growing. I think it's time for this town to have a public transit.

Kudo asked about 2 years ago

Thank you for your question, currently, there are no plans to implement new transportation services in 2022.

The City of Lloydminster will be assessing the transportation needs of residents as part of a Social Needs Assessment scheduled to launch in spring 2022. The information gathered will be used as part of a larger Transportation Study that Council has approved for 2022. The Transpiration Study will explore options and costs for addressing those needs. We hope that we can count on you to share your voice during those projects.
