Community Social Needs Assessment

A social needs assessment is an in-depth community engagement campaign to ensure residents are heard and involved. Understanding what is impacting a community, what can be done, who should be involved, and what roles they should have, is critical for effective and efficient service delivery.

In 2018 the City of Lloydminster’s Family and Community Support Services (FCSS) department held the previous Social Needs Assessment. View the Lloyd Needs Video to learn what was heard and done to meet those needs in the past five years.

This year we launched another assessment to connect with residents, stakeholders, and local partners to gain a better understanding of current social needs. From April 11 to May 30, 2022, the public was asked to complete the Lloyd Needs survey. From this survey, a What We Heard Report was created to summarize the data received.

Thank you for taking the time to tell us what you think Lloyd Needs!

The collected information is being used to create a five to ten-year Social Policy Assessment Report. This document will highlight Lloydminster's needs and give recommendations to support City initiatives that impact social well-being. It is a high-level strategic document intended to be fluid and measurable.

The Social Policy Assessment will be:

  • A tool to identify the social needs of Lloydminster, what is important to the community, and measure the impact of social programs and policy.
  • A strategic direction for the City and our public and private partners in collaborating to build social well-being.
  • A lens to see opportunities to develop social well-being through all City departments.

To whom it may concern, My name is Erin Dickinson I work for Rural Development Network. We are currently working on a project to help a smaller community in Alberta engage their youth in a effective way. We are wondering if you are able to share your survey needs assessment with our team or any suggestions that your team might have to effectively and efficiently reach out to the youth would be appreciated. Thank you for your time, Erin Dickinson
